Medical Malpractice
Overview
Medical malpractice occurs when a health care provider causes
injury or death to a patient by failing to act within the
applicable standard of care.
Medical malpractice laws are designed to protect patients'
rights to pursue compensation if they are injured as the result
of negligence. In general, there are no guarantees of medical
results. An unsuccessful result from medical treatment or
surgery does not in itself mean that medical malpractice has
been committed. Specifically in the state of Louisiana, you must
first submit your claim to a Medical Review Panel before filing
suit in court. Therefore, it is important that your claim be
evaluated by an experienced attorney with a high level of
professionalism and integrity.
As your legal counsel, I will work closely with you to review
all the medical records, meet with expert witnesses and lay the
groundwork to establish that the resulting injury or death was a
direct result of the medical error.
